I am from Guangzhou, China, a place that has profoundly shaped my aesthetic outlook. I have been fascinated by the world of visual arts and design since I was a child, and I find joy in bringing ideas to life through artwork.
I am interested in the interaction between traditional cultural elements and contemporary design, a recurring theme in my work that guides my projects to not only challenge the viewer's perspective, but to encourage a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
My final project, Coral Reefs of the Southern Indian Ocean, was significant for me. This project not only demonstrated my commitment to design as a tool for change, but also emphasised my belief in the power of visual communication to influence public opinion and drive collective action.
The project, called SUSTAIN-CORAL, is designed for environmental advocates, educators and anyone interested in marine conservation. It aims to raise awareness of the current challenges facing coral ecosystems in the Southern Indian Ocean.
I chose to design this project to combine my passion for conservation with my skills in visual communication. Often described as marine rainforests, coral reefs are vital to marine life but are under threat due to climate change, pollution and other human activities. By producing visually striking materials such as posters, magazines and digital content, I hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of coral and recognise the urgency of protecting it.
The project combines graphic design, photography and narrative to engage audiences. From detailed magazine articles to high-impact posters, each piece is carefully crafted to not only educate, but also evoke an emotional resonance that drives people to take action. This holistic approach ensures that the message of coral conservation reaches a wide audience, deepening their understanding of and commitment to environmental stewardship.
