Kia ora! I’m Liam, and I’m from Cambridge, New Zealand. I have a passion for problem-solving through design, always looking for ways to improve everyday experiences and create innovative solutions. My recent projects range from designing vertical gardens for urban spaces to developing unique materials for vehicle interiors. I enjoy the process of taking ideas from concept to completion, finding the best ways to make things more functional and user-friendly. Outside of my studies, I love being outdoors and often draw inspiration from my surroundings.
The challenge of creating something new and learning the avenues to do so through university has been eye-opening. It’s been exciting to put these skills into practice in real-world scenarios and explore how design can have a real impact on everyday life. I look forward to continuing to apply these lessons in future roles and projects.
VertiGrow is a vertical garden system designed for urban environments, aimed at individuals and communities looking to maximize their green spaces in limited areas. It addresses the growing need for more accessible greenery in cities, where space is often scarce. The design allows users to grow plants in compact, vertical structures, making it ideal for apartment balconies, small yards, or even indoor spaces.
I chose to design VertiGrow to help improve urban living by promoting greener, healthier environments, particularly for people who may not have access to traditional gardens. The system encourages users to grow their own food or plants, contributing to well-being and sustainability. It's designed to be modular and easy to install, providing a practical and visually appealing solution for urban gardeners of all experience levels.
