Biography

Hey, I’m Jamie! I’m originally from South Africa and I grew up in New Zealand. After high school, my top priority was to travel and explore the world, and I’ve been fortunate enough to check off many experiences on the bucket list. After several years working in beauty retail, I was ready for a new challenge. Creativity has always been a big part of who I am, and design felt like the perfect way to channel that creativity into a meaningful and dynamic career.

Deciding to pursue a Bachelor of Design has been one of the best choices I’ve made. Starting with very little knowledge of design, I’ve grown to confidently use the Adobe suite and produce work that I’m proud of. This learning journey has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to explore various areas of design and ultimately discover my passion for branding and illustration. I’m eager to continue exploring, learning, and refining my skills in the design world.

Project Description

Solis Tarot is a deck designed for anyone looking to enhance their mental well-being through tarot, whether you're a beginner or an experienced reader. I created this project out of a love for tarot and a desire to challenge the misconceptions surrounding it. Tarot is often viewed as a mystical practice, but I believe its true power lies in its ability to serve as a tool for practical guidance and self-reflection. It’s not about predicting the future but about gaining deeper insights into yourself and your emotions.

The Solis Tarot deck incorporates nature-inspired illustrations to enrich the meaning of each card. The included guidebook features keywords, card meanings, and journaling prompts, helping you explore how the messages in each card apply to your life. This structure promotes self-discovery while offering practical guidance, making the deck both supportive and empowering.

I believe tarot can be a valuable resource for anyone seeking clarity, emotional balance, and personal growth. Solis Tarot was designed to remove the "woo-woo" stigma and offer a practical, non-intimidating way to incorporate tarot into your daily life.
