Biography

Hi there, I’m Aimee! I grew up in Hamilton and have always had a love for all things art and design. When I didn’t have my nose buried in a book, I could be found covered in paint. I continued to take every art and design class on offer during high school and am fortunate enough to be able to explore that passion further as a career. During my time at Waikato, I’ve had the chance to explore everything from digital illustration to branding. I’m especially passionate about print and layout design, and this project let me bring that to life. It’s been such a rewarding experience applying everything I’ve learned and adding my own personal flair. Can’t wait to see where this creative journey takes me next!

Project Description

While mental health awareness has grown over the years, there remains a gap in accessible resources specifically for individuals in the creative industry. That's why I created "Spark Up"—a mental health awareness campaign designed to support designers entering the field. The campaign addresses the unique challenges that creative professionals often face, such as high-pressure environments, irregular hours, and the struggle to maintain creativity. It focuses on three key themes: sparking up conversation, creativity, and balance. The campaign includes printed posters, flyers, social media content, and a website.

The goal of "Spark Up" is to encourage open conversation , provide valuable resources to those feeling the pressures of creative work, and create a healthier, more supportive environment for designers, especially those just starting out. Through vibrant colours and engaging illustrations, the campaign aims to inspire designers to prioritise their mental health and wellbeing as well as their career.
